Countering discrimination: ASGI’s practical guide

Argomenti:project LAW

As part of the LAW project, co-funded by the European Union, we produced a document translated into four languages to answer the most frequently asked questions received by ASGI’s anti-discrimination service.

Am I entitled to the Basic Income if I have not resided in Italy for 10 years? Can only foreigners be required to have additional documents to access public housing? Am I entitled to open a basic current account if I do not yet have an ID card?

These are some of the questions that are asked daily at ASGI’s Anti-Discrimination Service. We have collected the most common questions to compile a brief legal guidance guide on discrimination that hinders access to welfare and other rights.

In particular, we answer to questions related to basic income, all-inclusive family allowance, family allowance, basic maternity allowance, nursery bonus, opening a bank account, access to public and private housing, and access to employment.

The FAQs are aimed at migrant people and practitioners and provide practical tools to identify illegitimate rules and practices and oppose exclusion from benefits and services on the basis of nationality, ethnicity, or origin.
